Startup Abuja has opened applications for its 2026 Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, targeting students enrolled in Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics, and colleges of education, with the application window closing on August 31.

The initiative offers a monthly stipend for six consecutive months to support living expenses, alongside a paid remote internship placement with a partner organisation. Organisers noted that the internship is structured and compensated, distinguishing it from unpaid attachment schemes typically offered to undergraduates.

Beneficiaries will also gain access to a curated skills training programme covering digital tools and workplace readiness, an entrepreneurship curriculum designed to build business thinking regardless of whether participants intend to found companies, and structured financial literacy coaching covering saving, budgeting and money management.

To qualify, applicants must be currently enrolled in a Public or Private Nigerian University, Polytechnic, or college of education, and must be willing to participate in the programme's activities if selected. No minimum CGPA is required, with organisers stating the scheme instead rewards financial discipline, consistency, and commitment.

Startup Abuja describes itself as a social enterprise and accelerator platform focused on strengthening Nigeria's entrepreneurship ecosystem. Beyond the scholarship, the organisation runs the Startup Abuja Innovation Challenge, an annual programme delivered in partnership with Transnet Cloud and Amazon Web Services that connects early stage founders to funding, mentorship and cloud infrastructure support. The organisation has positioned itself as a bridge between student and founder communities and the wider investment and mentorship landscape in Nigeria and across Africa.

The scholarship programme arrives amid a broader push across Nigeria's education and innovation space this year, with several federal and private sector initiatives targeting undergraduates through stipends, research grants, and skills based interventions.
