The Senate of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University has officially approved the expulsion of a 400 level undergraduate student following a comprehensive investigation into examination misconduct. The decisive disciplinary action was finalized during the 109th Regular Meeting of the University Senate after receiving the official findings from the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct.

The internal disciplinary proceedings focused on Alfa Hussaini, a final year student in the Department of History and International Studies within the Faculty of Arts. According to the investigation details submitted by the committee, chaired by the Depty Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Aliyu Bello Mohammed, the student was apprehended during the administration of the Islamic Interpretation of History assessment for possessing unauthorized written materials relevant to the examination paper.

The official report, dated July 22, 2026, revealed that the student entered the testing center with handwritten notes and subsequently admitted ownership of the material. Investigative findings further established that the student actively refused to fill out the standard examination misconduct form when instructed by classroom invigilators.

In response to the violations, the governing body cited strict regulatory provisions outlined in the 2024 Edition of the University Student Handbook. The administrative code stipulates that the possession of unauthorized subject matter materials during an active assessment, alongside the explicit refusal to complete required misconduct documentation, independently carries the penalty of expulsion.

Acting upon the committee's explicit recommendations, the University Senate ratified the immediate termination of the student's academic standing. Additionally, the governing council directed administrative officers to formally retrieve the statement of result previously issued to the individual, reinforcing the Institution's zero tolerance stance on academic dishonesty.
