The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Branch, has directed its members to resume academic and administrative duties following the payment of the complete August 2026 salary to all members.

In a statement dated 11th September, 2026, the ASUU NAU Branch Executive announced the immediate suspension of its withdrawal of services, which had taken effect on Friday, 11th September, 2026.

The Branch recalled that members had resolved to withdraw services pending full payment of the August 2026 salary, following a Congress resolution and notice issued on 7th September, 2026.

According to the union, the industrial action was taken under a standing resolution of the ASUU National Executive Council, which empowers branches to withdraw services when salaries remain unpaid after the third day of the following month.

At the time the strike began, the Branch described the shortfall as having occurred "more than three times," calling the recurring pattern an "ugly and frustrating experience" for its members.

With the salary now confirmed paid, all ASUU NAU members have been directed to resume teaching, lectures, supervision, marking, committee meetings and submission of results, among other duties.

The union commended its members for their resoluteness, unity and discipline throughout the period, stating that their solidarity and collective action had yielded a positive result.

ASUU NAU further urged members to remain vigilant and continue monitoring developments, adding that official updates would be communicated through the union's platforms.

When the industrial action began, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations at Nnamdi Azikiwe University had declined to comment on the matter.

The statement suspending the withdrawal of services was signed by Comrade Innocent Nnubia, Chairperson, and Comrade Osita Nnajiofor, Secretary, ASUU NAU.
