The Students' Union Government, Bayero University, Kano, has announced that this year's BUK Cultural Carnival will hold from Saturday, 3rd to Sunday, 4th October, 2026, Rokeeb Olasupo reported on 11th September, 2026.

The two day event, themed "Heritage Alive: The Spirit Of Our Ancestors," is designed to celebrate the University's cultural diversity, foster creativity and promote unity among students.

According to the SUG, the carnival will feature a range of cultural performances, exhibitions and activities intended to engage the entire University community throughout the celebration.

The Union described the theme as a reflection of its continued commitment to preserving and celebrating the diverse cultures within the University community and beyond.

Full participation from students has been strongly encouraged, with the SUG stating that student involvement remains essential to the success of the event.

All stakeholders, including student groups and University authorities, have been urged to cooperate fully in supporting the planning and execution of this year's programme.

The SUG noted that further details regarding logistics and scheduled activities would be communicated in due course.

Bayero University, Kano, is a public institution situated in Kano State and recognised as the first University in the State. Originally founded in 1960 as Ahmadu Bello College before evolving through several name changes, it attained full University status and now runs under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof Haruna Musa.
