Rivers State University has directed all undergraduate students residing in campus hostels to vacate their accommodation by 4:00 PM on Friday, 14 August 2026, following the conclusion of the 2025/2026 second semester examinations.

The directive affects all undergraduate hostel residents on the university's main campus in Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt. Students are expected to fully clear their rooms and exit the premises before the stipulated deadline.

The university stated that the hostels would remain closed until the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session, at which point residents would be permitted to return ahead of the new session.

No extension to the 14 August deadline has been indicated, and students are advised to make adequate arrangements for alternative accommodation during the period between sessions.

The vacation notice follows the end of second semester examinations, a standard procedure at the institution ahead of the long break between academic sessions. Students who fail to comply with the hostel vacation directive risk sanctions in line with university regulations governing campus accommodation.

RSUST undergraduates are encouraged to monitor official university communication channels for updates regarding the resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session and any additional instructions from the university administration concerning hostel reallocation ahead of the new academic year.
