The management of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), Oyo State, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Globacom, represented by DODOPHO Consultancy, to upgrade internet connectivity and network infrastructure across the Institution.

The agreement was formally signed during a meeting at the Institution's administrative offices, following an earlier strategic meeting between representatives of FUNATO Management and Globacom.

Representatives of both parties, led by the Lead Consultant of DODOPHO Consultancy, Mr Idowu, participated in the meeting during which the agreement was presented and signed.

Under the arrangement, the network upgrade will be implemented in phases, with bandwidth capacity scheduled to increase progressively as the project develops. The project is expected to commence shortly, following approval of an implementation timeline by the parties involved.

The partnership is expected to improve access to reliable internet services across academic and residential areas of the campus, with both staff and students expected to benefit from the network expansion. The planned rollout will cover key areas of the Institution, providing internet access to support teaching, learning, research, communication and administrative activities.

FUNATO is one of Nigeria's newest federal universities, established in 2025 in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, with academic activities having commenced only in the current session. For a young Institution still building its infrastructure, reliable connectivity is expected to play a central role in supporting teaching and administrative operations from the outset.

For students, improved campus connectivity could enhance access to digital learning resources, online academic platforms, electronic libraries, research databases, and other internet based educational services.

Reliable connectivity is increasingly important to University and tertiary Institution operations, as academic activities continue to incorporate online registration, learning management systems, electronic examinations, digital communication, and other technology driven services.

The phased approach to bandwidth expansion is expected to allow the Institution to increase network capacity in line with usage requirements as more students and staff gain access to the service, an effort by FUNATO Management to create a more digitally connected campus environment.
