Ten Edo indigenes among the 210 recipients of the President's National Youth Service Corps Honours Award 2025 have expressed readiness to replicate the innovations that earned them the honour within Edo State, provided the enabling environment is made available.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Divine Omoruyi noted that the awardees were only awaiting the opportunity to apply their NYSC experiences locally.
"We are prepared to replicate our innovation in Edo. We are only waiting for the opportunity to leverage our NYSC experiences in the state. Hopefully, those innovations will help boost development in the state," he stated.
The other Edo awardees named alongside Omoruyi are Joy Ehinome, Odu Donald, Osaretin Michael, Osas Unuane, Dr Samuel Elaiho, Etinosa Ajayi, Charles Hope, Adesuwa Asubaja and Mary Aimuam.
President Bola Tinubu conferred the 2025 President's NYSC Honours Award on 210 former corps members who served between 2020 and 2023, during a ceremony held on July 29, 2025, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The recipients, who served across different states, were selected by their respective states of service.
Omoruyi, a graduate of Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, was recognised for the innovative application of statistical analysis and digital technology that significantly improved NYSC administrative processes during his service in Taraba State.
Elaiho, an optometrist and fellow graduate of the University of Benin, was involved in humanitarian medical outreach that transformed the lives of hundreds of residents during his service in Abia State. His performance earned him the Abia State Best Corps Member Award in 2022, ahead of the national honour.
The remaining eight Edo awardees distinguished themselves through outstanding service in their various states of deployment. Collectively, the ten represent excellence spanning public service, innovation, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and community development, values the National Youth Service Corps continues to promote among its members.
