The outgoing Provost of Osun State University College of Education, Professor Florence Yusuf, handed over leadership of the institution after four years, reporting a tenure marked by academic expansion, student welfare programmes and institutional development across the 2022 to 2026 sessions.

Presenting her stewardship report at the handover ceremony, Yusuf disclosed that more than 90 scholarships, educational grants and financial support packages were awarded to students through collaborations with philanthropists and development partners. "Perhaps the most heartwarming achievement of the tenure was the unprecedented scholarship support extended to students," she noted, adding that the initiative spanned candidates across various academic levels and local government areas, representing one of the most extensive student support programmes in the college's history.

On academic growth, the outgoing Provost reported that four new undergraduate programmes were introduced, specifically B.Sc. (Ed.) offerings in Business Education, Environmental Education, Adult and Continuing Education and Computer Education. Seven additional programmes, including Ph.D. offerings in English Language Education, Measurement and Evaluation, Curriculum Studies and Science Education, were developed and prepared for National Universities Commission resource verification.

"Throughout my tenure, I worked collaboratively with the university management, staff, students, alumni and stakeholders to strengthen the academic, administrative and professional standing of the college," Yusuf told the gathering.

The administration also recruited 36 additional academic staff members and three technologists, established a functional College Resource Centre through donor support and institutionalised the Annual Lecture Series, with four editions held between 2022 and 2026. Three editions of the Annual Conference of Education were equally organised, drawing academics and researchers from institutions across the country.

Four Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria Induction Programmes were conducted during the tenure, strengthening the professional identity of graduating education students. Staff recognition awards were also institutionalised, with the Vice Chancellor receiving the Exemplary Leadership Award and four staff members honoured for contributions to the college's development.

Beyond the college, Yusuf served as Chairman of the Committee of Provosts, Deans and Directors for two terms, recording progress in policy harmonisation, academic quality assurance and inter college collaboration.

Recommending priorities for her successor, she urged the incoming administration to pursue NUC verification for newly developed programmes, sustain flagship academic events and expand scholarship partnerships. "I do so with gratitude, fulfilment and confidence that the solid foundation laid during this administration will support even greater accomplishments in the years ahead," she concluded.
