The National Youth Service Corps has released updated guidelines for prospective corps members ahead of the upcoming orientation camp, directing them to avoid night travel and meet documentation requirements before arrival.

The scheme posted the advisory on its official X handle on Monday, stating that safety during transit to orientation camps remained a priority.

"Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp," the NYSC stated.

The corps also flagged a registration barrier that could affect candidates with mismatched records. Those whose call up letters carry graduation dates that differ from their statements of results will be barred from completing registration at camp.

"Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call up letters and the date on their statement of results will not be registered in the orientation camp," it said.

Affected candidates were directed to address the issue with the relevant institutional authorities before reporting to camp.

"They should sort out such issues with the Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to the camp," the statement added.

On documentation, the scheme reminded prospective corps members to print, sign and submit their registration forms upon arrival.

"Prospective Corps Members are advised to print and sign the form, which is to be submitted during registration at the orientation camp," it stated.

The NYSC further outlined a process for candidates seeking to correct their dates of birth. Applicants are required to obtain a 19 or 20 digit WAEC Verification PIN, then access the correction link through their NYSC dashboard. The process involves selecting the WAEC type, entering the examination year and number, then verifying and submitting the request.

The scheme urged all prospective corps members to comply with the guidelines to ensure smooth registration and avoid complications during the orientation exercise.
