Reports claiming that the Federal Government has formally approved and concluded the release of the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, to serve as a Teaching Hospital for Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have been described as inaccurate and premature by the Institution's Management.

Management stated that its attention had been drawn to the reports, which were circulating across various media platforms, excluding the University's official channels, alleging that the process had already been finalised.

While acknowledging that engagements with the Federal Government and other relevant authorities have been positive and encouraging, the University clarified that the modalities and administrative processes for the release and transition of the facility are still being finalised by the appropriate authorities. It is noted that the conversion or redesignation of a Federal Medical Centre as a University Teaching Hospital is governed by established statutory, administrative, and intergovernmental procedures, all of which must be duly completed before any formal announcement can be made.

Under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, the University said it remains committed to building a world class College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences capable of producing highly skilled healthcare professionals. Management stated that it is working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the necessary clinical training facilities and institutional frameworks are put in place to support quality medical education, research, and healthcare service delivery.

Members of the University community, prospective students, stakeholders, and the general public were urged to disregard unverified reports and rely solely on official communications from the University for authentic information regarding the Teaching Hospital and other institutional developments. Management assured stakeholders that an official statement would be issued once the ongoing modalities and regulatory processes have been successfully concluded.
