Mr Sanusi Halidu Abubakar has been appointed substantive Bursar of Federal University Lokoja, while Dr Florence Ajani has been appointed substantive University Librarian, following approval by the Institution's Governing Council.
The appointments followed a rigorous, transparent, and merit based selection process conducted in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act and the University's established guidelines for the appointment of Principal Officers.
Abubakar, an accomplished financial administrator with extensive experience in university financial management, brings to the office of the Bursar a distinguished record of professionalism, integrity, fiscal discipline, and administrative competence. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the University's financial governance, accountability, and efficient management of resources in support of its teaching, research, and community service mandates.
Ajani assumes office as University Librarian with an impressive wealth of academic and professional experience in library and information science. As a seasoned scholar and administrator, she is expected to provide the visionary leadership required to advance the University's library system through innovation, digital transformation, research support and improved access to global knowledge resources.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff, and students, congratulated the newly appointed Principal Officers, describing their appointments as well deserved. He expressed confidence that both officers would bring their expertise, commitment and leadership to bear in discharging their responsibilities, contributing to the realisation of the University's vision of becoming a world class Institution distinguished by academic excellence, innovative research and impactful service to humanity.
The Vice Chancellor further urged the new Bursar and University Librarian to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, accountability, and dedication, while working collaboratively with stakeholders to consolidate achievements already recorded by the University. The University community has welcomed both appointees into their new offices, with wishes for successful and impactful tenures ahead.
