The Great Ife Students' Union at Obafemi Awolowo University has launched an official website intended to improve communication between the Union and its members, alumni, and the wider public.
The platform, hosted at greatifesu.com, was announced by the Union's Secretary General, Habeeb Oke, who described it as one of the defining achievements of the outgoing administration.
According to Oke, the website will function as a central hub for Union announcements, news, events, and resources, giving students, alumni, and stakeholders a reliable way to stay updated on activities at the University.
The project was developed with support from Akeem Osungbade, Chief Executive Officer of Oxgital and an alumnus of the University who previously served as Chairman of Angola Hall. Osungbade personally oversaw the platform's development from conception to completion.
Oke noted that the Union extended its appreciation to Osungbade for the contribution, describing his involvement as an example of alumni remaining connected to their alma mater.
As his tenure as Secretary General draws to a close, Oke stated that handing over the platform represents a legacy for future generations of students at the University. He encouraged students to make use of the website's features, adding that its impact would depend on how actively the student community engaged with it.
The Great Ife Students' Union operates as the representative body for undergraduate students at Obafemi Awolowo University, coordinating welfare, advocacy, and engagement between the student population and the University administration.
Oke signed off on the announcement as Secretary General of the Union for the 2024/2025 parliamentary year.
