The Katsina State owned Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HUKP) has announced plans to hold a combined convocation ceremony for graduates from 2007 to 2026, ending a 19 year gap in the Institution's academic calendar.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Aminu Kado Doro, disclosed this while defending the Institution's budget during the Katsina State House of Assembly's pre budget defence session. He noted that the Institution had been unable to hold a convocation ceremony since 2007 but assured that preparations were now at an advanced stage to ensure a successful event.

According to the Rector, the Katsina State Government has completed construction of the Polytechnic's convocation arena, while the Institution is finalising other arrangements for the ceremony. Dr Kado Doro also revealed that the Polytechnic secured accreditation for 29 academic programmes last year, describing the achievement as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic standards and improve the quality of technical education in the state.

The Institution, situated in Batagarawa Local Government Area along the Tafawa Balewa Road linking Katsina city with Dutsin Ma, was established under the Katsina Polytechnic Law of 1983, which grew out of the defunct North Central College of Arts, Science and Technology and was later amended in 2003. As the premier Tertiary Institution in the state, HUKP offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes across sciences, management, technology, arts, and the humanities.
