The Federal University Dutse has expelled 11 students and suspended 23 others for two academic semesters following the approval of disciplinary measures by the institution's Senate at its 76th Regular Senate Meeting.

The decisions were reached after the Senate considered and adopted the 18th Report of the Senate Committee on Examinations and Related Misconduct.

The Director of Public Affairs for the Registrar, Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, said in a statement that the measures formed part of the university's efforts to uphold academic integrity and preserve the credibility of its examination process. The statement read, "As a result, 11 students were expelled for their involvement in examination misconduct. Additionally, 23 other students were rusticated for two semesters, three students received written warning letters, and one student was exonerated."

Students placed on rustication will serve their punishment during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session and the first semester of the 2026/2027 session, before resuming studies in the second semester of the 2026/2027 academic session.

The affected students were drawn from multiple faculties and departments, including Computer Science, Cyber Security, Library and Information Science, Banking and Finance, Plant Biology, Primary Education, Mathematical Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Political Science, Criminology and Security Studies, Agricultural Economics, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Animal Science, Taxation and Information Technology.

Three students found culpable of lesser offences received written warning letters, whilst one student accused of examination misconduct was exonerated after the allegations against him could not be substantiated.

The university reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high academic standards, stressing that acts capable of undermining the integrity of its examination system would continue to attract appropriate sanctions in line with its regulations.
